From the Journal of Commerce/PIERS( an IHS Maritime & Trade Company): 8 of the top 10 ports for imports are on the east coast with only Seattle and Long Beach cracking the top 10. Tacoma, Oakland, and LA are in negative territory. Shippers are tired of the drama every 4 years between the ILWU and the PMA over the labor agreement. Shippers have choices and have voted with shifting some discretionary cargo to gulf and east coast ports.
